Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important official commented the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
